What Are Milestone Celebrations?

Milestone celebrations are social proof notifications that highlight your store's achievements and build trust with potential customers. These messages showcase meaningful numbers that demonstrate your brand's credibility, such as:

• "Trusted by 5,000+ customers"
• "Loved by 10,000+ users worldwide"
• "We just hit 5,000 happy customers"

Milestones appear as toast notifications in the corner of your store, rotating alongside other social proof events like recent purchases and visitor activity.

How Milestone Data Works

Unlike real-time events such as recent purchases or visitor counts, milestone celebrations use manually configured values that you set in the Shopify Theme Editor. This gives you full control over:

• The milestone count - The number to display (e.g., "5,000")
• The prefix text - Text before the number (e.g., "Trusted by")
• The suffix text - Text after the number (e.g., "happy customers")
• The count suffix - A symbol after the number (e.g., "+" for "5,000+")
• The emoji - An icon to accompany your milestone

This approach lets you update your milestone as your business grows, and ensures you're displaying accurate numbers that reflect your actual customer base.

When Milestones Appear

Milestone toasts are part of your store's social proof rotation. They appear alongside other notification types like:

• Recent purchase notifications
• Current visitor counts
• Stock alerts
• Multi-sale notifications

The system uses weighted selection to determine which notification appears next. Milestones have a moderate weight, meaning they'll appear regularly but won't dominate the rotation. This creates a balanced mix of social proof that feels natural to shoppers.

To prevent notification fatigue, milestones (like all toast types) are suppressed for 30 minutes after being shown to the same visitor.

How to Enable or Disable Milestones

For Toast Notifications

1. Open your Shopify Admin and go to Online Store > Themes
2. Click Customize on your active theme
3. In the Theme Editor, click App embeds in the left sidebar
4. Find and click on USP Toasts
5. Scroll to find the Show milestone celebrations checkbox
6. Check or uncheck the box to enable or disable milestone toasts
7. Click Save

When enabled, milestone celebrations will automatically rotate into your toast notification queue.

For Inline Milestones

You can also add a standalone milestone badge directly on your product pages using the USP Inline Milestone block:

1. In the Theme Editor, navigate to a product page template
2. Click Add block where you want the milestone to appear
3. Select USP Inline Milestone from the app blocks
4. Configure your milestone settings:
   • Emoji or icon - The icon displayed (default: party popper)
   • Intro text - Text before the number (default: "Trusted by")
   • Milestone count - Your achievement number (default: "5,000")
   • Count suffix - Symbol after the number (default: "+")
   • Closing text - Text after the number (default: "happy customers")
   • Icon corner radius - Adjust the icon shape (0-40px)
   • Icon color - Customize the icon background tint
5. Click Save

Best Practices

• Be accurate - Use real numbers that reflect your actual customer base. Exaggerated claims can damage trust.
• Update regularly - As your business grows, remember to update your milestone numbers to keep them current.
• Round appropriately - Numbers like "5,000+" or "10,000+" are more readable than exact figures like "5,247".
• Match your brand voice - Customize the text to fit your store's personality. "Trusted by" works for professional brands, while "Loved by" may suit lifestyle brands better.
