Enabling Toasts in Your Theme

Overview

Toast notifications are small pop-up messages that appear in the corner of your store to show social proof activity, such as recent purchases, live visitors, and reviews. This guide walks you through enabling the USP Toasts app embed in your Shopify theme.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open Your Theme Editor

1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
2. From the left sidebar, click Online Store.
3. Click Themes.
4. On your current theme, click the Customize button.

Step 2: Find App Embeds

1. In the theme editor, look at the left sidebar.
2. At the top of the sidebar, you'll see several icons. Click the App embeds icon (it looks like a grid or puzzle piece).
3. This opens the list of available app embeds for your theme.

Step 3: Enable USP Toasts

1. Find USP Toasts in the list of app embeds.
2. Click the toggle switch next to it to turn it on.
3. Once enabled, you can click on the USP Toasts row to expand its settings.

Step 4: Configure Your Toast Settings (Optional)

After enabling the app embed, you can customize how your toasts appear:

• Position - Choose whether toasts appear in the bottom-right or bottom-left corner.
• Frequency - Control how often toasts appear (Subtle, Balanced, or Aggressive). Note: Toast cycling requires a Pro plan.
• Theme preset - Select a visual style (Minimal, Luxury, Bold, Pastel, Glass, or Dark).
• Content sources - Toggle which types of notifications to show, including recent purchases, reviews, live visitors, and store stats.
• Design overrides - Adjust corner radius and accent color to match your brand.

Step 5: Verify in Preview Mode

1. While still in the theme editor, look at the preview panel on the right side of your screen.
2. You should see a sample toast notification appear in your chosen position.
3. This preview toast confirms that the app embed is working correctly.

Step 6: Save and Publish

1. Once you're happy with your settings, click the Save button in the top-right corner of the theme editor.
2. Your toast notifications are now live on your store.

Troubleshooting

I don't see USP Toasts in my app embeds

Make sure you have installed the Ultimate Social Proof app from the Shopify App Store. If you recently installed it, try refreshing the theme editor.

The preview toast doesn't appear

Ensure the toggle for USP Toasts is switched on (the toggle should appear highlighted or colored when enabled). If it's on but nothing appears, try saving and refreshing the page.

Toasts appear in preview but not on my live store

Don't forget to click Save in the theme editor. Changes won't appear on your live store until they're saved.
