Reinstalling the App
When to Consider Reinstalling
Reinstalling Ultimate Social Proof should be a last resort after you've tried other troubleshooting steps. Consider reinstalling if:
- The app fails to load or displays persistent errors
- Theme blocks don't appear despite being correctly configured
- You've contacted support and been advised to reinstall
- Other troubleshooting steps haven't resolved your issue
Before reinstalling: Try refreshing your browser, clearing your cache, or checking for theme conflicts first. Reinstalling is rarely necessary for most issues.
What Happens to Your Data
Data That Is Preserved
- Subscription status - Your billing plan remains active through Shopify's subscription system
- Order history - Your Shopify orders are unaffected and will be available for social proof displays
Data That Is Removed
- Session data - Your authentication session is cleared when you uninstall
- Theme block configurations - Any theme blocks you've added will need to be reconfigured
- App settings - Custom settings may need to be reconfigured after reinstalling
How to Uninstall
- Log in to your Shopify admin
- Navigate to Settings in the bottom left corner
- Click on Apps and sales channels
- Find Ultimate Social Proof in your list of apps
- Click on the app name, then select Uninstall
- Confirm the uninstallation when prompted
How to Reinstall
- Visit the Ultimate Social Proof listing in the Shopify App Store
- Click Add app
- Review the permissions and click Install
- The app will automatically set up the required components, including webhook registrations and metafield definitions
- Your timezone settings will be automatically detected and configured
Reconfiguring Theme Blocks After Reinstall
After reinstalling, you'll need to add the app's theme blocks back to your store:
- Open the app from your Shopify admin
- Go to Online Store > Themes
- Click Customize on your active theme
- Navigate to the page where you want to display social proof (usually product pages)
- Click Add block or Add section
- Search for and select the Ultimate Social Proof blocks you want to add
- Configure the block settings as desired
- Click Save
About Your Subscription
Your subscription status is managed by Shopify and remains intact when you uninstall and reinstall the app. You won't be charged again or lose your current billing cycle. If you were on a paid plan before uninstalling, you'll still have access to those features after reinstalling.
