Canceling Your Subscription
How to Cancel Your Ultimate Social Proof Subscription
If you need to cancel your paid subscription, you can do so directly from the app. This guide walks you through the cancellation process and explains what happens after you cancel.
Accessing the Settings Page
To cancel your subscription, first navigate to the Settings page:
- Open the Ultimate Social Proof app from your Shopify admin
- Click Settings in the app navigation
- Find the Subscription card which displays your current plan and status
Cancel Subscription Button
If you have an active paid subscription (Basic, Plus, or Pro), you will see a red Cancel subscription button next to the "Change plan" button.
Note: The cancel button only appears when:
- You are on a paid plan (not the Free plan)
- Your subscription status is Active
- You do not already have a pending cancellation
Confirmation Modal
When you click the Cancel subscription button, a confirmation modal will appear asking you to confirm your decision. The modal explains that your plan will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle.
You have two options:
- Cancel subscription - Confirms the cancellation
- Keep subscription - Closes the modal without canceling
Prorated Refund
When you cancel your subscription, you will receive a prorated refund for any unused time remaining in your current billing period. This means you are only charged for the days you actually used the paid plan.
Features Remain Active Until Billing Period Ends
After canceling, your paid plan features remain fully active until the end of your current billing cycle. You will see a badge on the Settings page indicating when your plan will be downgraded, for example: "Cancels Jan 15, 2025".
During this period, you can continue using all the features included in your paid plan without any limitations.
Automatic Downgrade to Free
Once your billing period ends, your account will automatically downgrade to the Free plan. This happens through Shopify's subscription system, so you do not need to take any additional action.
After the downgrade:
- Your plan will show as "Free" on the Settings page
- Your plan limits will reflect Free tier restrictions
- Any widgets or features that exceed Free tier limits may become inactive
Resubscribing
If you change your mind after canceling, you can resubscribe at any time by clicking the Upgrade plan button on the Settings page. This will take you to the Shopify pricing page where you can select a new plan.
